AP Class Sections

Schools that have AP teachers with multiple class sections or multiple teachers teaching the same AP subject can get Subject Score Rosters and AP Instructional Planning Reports at the class section or teacher level. Class sections help teachers and schools:

  • See performance on a class level. Schools can get a direct view into the performance of individual classes so they can analyze the strengths and weaknesses of their curricula.
  • Ensure that each teacher sees only their own students' scores. Schools can control access to student scores when there is more than one teacher for an AP subject.

Creating Class Sections

AP coordinators can view complete instructions for designating sections in AP Registration and Ordering at Class Section Creation and Join Codes. Students enroll in their specific class sections at the beginning of the school year, generating the class section and teacher views of the Subject Score Roster, and AP Instructional Planning Reports.

Viewing Reports

When users view their AP Instructional Planning Reports and Subject Score Rosters, they will be prompted to select section(s) for that subject and for that school year.

Teachers: The section(s) listed reflect the class sections created in AP Registration and Ordering to which that teacher has been assigned. Teachers may choose to run reports for an individual section, across all sections, or for a subset of sections.

School and District Administrators: The section(s) listed reflect the class sections created in AP Registration and Ordering for your school for the selected subject. Each teacher associated to a section is also listed, where applicable. You may choose to run this report for an individual teacher, across all your school’s sections, for a subset of sections, or for an individual section.

  • No Teacher Assigned Sections (visible to administrators): These are your school’s exam only sections, which include students who did not receive instruction at your school in this subject but for whom you submitted an exam order. These may include students who received instruction from an online provider or self-studied.
  • No Section/Exam Only Sections (visible to administrators): These include your school’s students for whom you did not instruct nor submit an exam order for. These may include students who received instruction from an online provider or self-studied.

Editing or Correcting Section Numbers

  • If you find that students are missing from your reports, check to see if the student is in the correct section.
  • If you find that a student is appearing under the incorrect section on your Subject Score Roster report or Instructional Planning report, your AP coordinator may update a student’s section in AP Registration and Ordering. View instructions for making a section update (.pdf/299 KB).
